Barbara Brandeburg grew up in Ventura, California and raised her family in Northern California. She is currently based in the Salt Lake Valley, where she creates layered oil paintings of landscapes inspired by the rural West. Her work explores the textures, colors, and complexity of the landscape, often using handmade tools and playful mark-making techniques to capture what she sees. Inspired by old barns, cows, historic homesteads, pioneer trails, and the Tetons, Barbara calls her subject matter the “Mild West.” When she’s not painting, you can find her traveling in her tiny converted painting van, camping with her kids in the Tetons or setting up to paint in towns throughout Utah.
