This painting celebrates the parallels of new motherhood: cradling life within the womb and then in our arms. I painted this expecting mother to capture the quiet awe of both—two kinds of holding that feel different yet deeply connected. I recently gave birth to my fourth child. That morning I could feel his little legs kicking inside me, and that afternoon I held him in my arms. Words don’t seem enough to describe that experience.
