I aim to create work that is both formally grounded and emotionally resonant, images that reflect the tensions and harmonies of life itself. Life is an art form full of tension and brief moments of balance.
The body becomes a site of duality, tension and reconciliation: tenderness alongside severity,
peace and anticipation; sorrow and beauty are not opposites, but partners.
This painting reflects the quiet tension of living in a world that asks the heart to hold
contradictions. The figure curls inward beneath a night sky, protecting two small houses (perhaps symbols of memory/love) that cannot easily be reconciled but she holds them tightly through the night hoping for the morning light to shine some clarity on them.
Rather than choosing between despair or denial, the figure holds both with the same energy. My painting holds complexity without spectacle. Through portraiture and the human figure, I invite viewers into a quiet space between the unconscious and the customary mind, cultivating compassion toward ourselves and toward one another.
