Women hold a great many things, but one of the things I like most are the stories that they hold. Growing up in New Mexico, I would often see Storyteller Dolls, ceramic dolls with small children all over them. Although not entirely accurate, I thought they looked like a grandma telling her grandchildren the stories that connected their family and culture together. I have always loved that image of a grandmother, patiently sharing stories as children climbed over her.
The Holder of Stories is a two-layer linocut reduction print depicting a storytelling grandmother with her grandchildren. The stories bursting from her hand are stories and ideas that I loved as a child.
